Blood Saint (Sorcerer/Paladin)

(Original Concept by Elghinn Lightbringer)

Primary: Sorcerer.

Secondary: Paladin.

Alignment: Any good.

Hit Dice: d8.

Bonus Skills and Ranks: The blood saint selects three paladin skills to add to her class skills in addition to the normal sorcerer class skills. The blood saint gains a number of ranks at each level equal to 2 + Int modifier.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The blood saint is proficient with all simple weapons and her deity’s favored weapon, and with light armor. She can cast sorcerer spells while wearing light armor without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance. Like any other arcane spellcaster, a blood saint wearing medium armor, heavy armor, or a shield incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in question has a somatic component. A multiclass blood saint still incurs the normal arcane spell failure chance for arcane spells received from other classes.

Aura of Good (Su): The blood saint gains the paladin’s aura of good ability. The power of her aura of good (see the detect good spell) is equal to her blood saint level.

Bloodline: This function like the sorcerer ability of the same name, except that the blood saint gains her 3rd level bloodline power at 4th level, her 9th level power at 10th level, and her 15th level power at 16th level. The blood saint may select any bloodline of her choice, though the Celestial bloodline, Martyred bloodline, and the new Saint bloodline complement the blood saint multiclass archetype.

In addition, a blood saint gains her first bloodline spell at 3rd level, and each subsequent bloodline spell every three levels thereafter, up to her sixth bloodline spell at 18th level.

Divine Grace (Su): At 2nd level, a blood saint gains a bonus equal to her Charisma bonus (if any) on all Saving Throws. This ability, aura of courage, and aura of resolve replace bloodline feats.

Touch of the Saint (Su): Starting at 2nd level, a blood saint can draw upon the power of her divine aura to touch a creature as a standard action, granting a sacred bonus on attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws equal to half her blood saint level (minimum 1) for 1 round. Alternatively, she can touch a creature (or herself as a swift action) to heal a number of hit points equal to 1d6 + her blood saint level. The blood saint can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + her Charisma modifier.

Smite Evil (Su): At 3rd level, a blood saint gains the paladin’s smite evil ability. She can use this ability once per day at 3rd level, plus an additional time per day every four elves thereafter, up to five times per day at 18th level.

Mercy (Su): At 5th level, a blood saint gains the paladin’s mercy ability. She can apply a mercy to her touch of the saint ability when used to heal, and may select from the paladin’s list of 3rd level mercies. A blood saint may select from the paladin’s list of 6th level mercies at 9th level, the 13th level list of mercies at 12th level, and the 12th level mercies at 17th level.

Medium Armor: At 7th level, a blood saint gains proficiency with medium armor. A blood saint can cast blood saint spells while wearing medium armor without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance. Like any other arcane spellcaster, a blood saint wearing heavy armor or using a shield incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in question has a somatic component.

Aura of Courage (Su): At 8th level, a blood saint gains the paladin’s aura of courage ability.

Aura of Resolve (Su): At 14th level, a blood saint gains the paladin’s aura of resolve ability.
