DESCRIPTION

Once wielded by the dwarven hero and king Ghurauk Stonehelm during the time of the Great Battle long ago, Gur-Khazad, The Great Cleaver was painstakingly forged by dwarven smiths from dwarven blue steel over the span of a full year. Once completed, it was heavily enchanted by high clerics of both Orin Stoneforger and Varu Hammerhaft to defeat the Great Orcish Horde of Zhulgak the Destroyer. Gur-Khazad is a +5 defiant impervious keen goblinoid bane greataxe, forged with the soul purpose of slaying those of the goblinoid races, but more specifically those of orcish blood.

POWERS

Gur-Khazad's true purpose is to defeat foes of the goblin race, but more specifically orcs and those that share their blood. Against all goblinoid races (goblins, hobgoblins, etc.), Gur-Khazad functions as a bane weapon (+2 better enhancement bonus, +2d6 extra damage), but when wielded by a dwarf and used against creatures of orcish blood (orcs, half orcs, and orogs), the weapon’s enhancement bonus is +4 better than its actual bonus, and deals an extra 4d6 points of damage against such foes.

Shortly after its discovery, it was passed into the hands of their friend and ally, the giant dwarven warrior and smith Farak Thunderstrike who wielded it throughout the Off-Worlder War, and continues to until this day, despite his age.
